Let's discuss the wiki via this chat/forum!

STEP ONE - LIST RESOURCES

Eventually break these out into individual pages/sections but let's start out with just a big ol list to get the ball rolling!

Stuff to put on here:

Recommended Books

Games

Videos

Schools

Websites

Blogs

The following list originated at The Computer Gizmo Blog

The following are added due to personal use:(ie the blogs I read every day)

  • Would be nice to make a nice public blogroll (kinda like my public twitter list) with easy steps/instructions for subscribing in a variety of common readers (lets start with google reader).

Twitter/Google+ list

Prototyping Tools/engines

Asset resources

Add good resources for free art/sounds including possibly illegal stuff like sprite sheets ;)

STEP TWO - Organize resources

Organize resources into individual pages with more information and better navigational structure (but still keep the flat list page like this available!)

STEP THREE - Instructional getting started format

Step by step instructions for someone newly interested in game design (books/articles to read, exercises to do, jams to join, etc).

Rough draft of steps/stages

  • Play Gamestar mechanic
  • Tweak some board games

Immersion in the community, with step by step instructions for setting up

  • Podcasts to listen to
  • Blogs/RSS feeds to follow
  • Twitter/Google+ lists to follow
